Announcements and Important Events
Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence. A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August-May each school year. At the end of the year, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS coaching staff.
The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for April are:
Ruth Whitehead and Mason Schrock
-Ruth Whitehead: Ruth is the daughter of Jeffrey and Connie Whitehead. She has a sister Michelle and three brothers Elijah, Joseph, and Samuel. Ruth has participated in cross country for four season and is a one-time varsity letter winner. She has participated in softball for four seasons and is a two time letter winner. Ruth has won the Barb Zook Mental Attitude Award for softball last season. She has won the top Kiwanis Scholar Athlete for three years for the fall and spring seasons. Ruth has been invited to the Academic Honors Banquet for four years and is a Summa Cum Laude. She has been involved with National Honor Society, Student Council, and band at Goshen High School. Ruth is also involved with church organizations. She has a 4.04 GPA. Ruth has been named a Kiwanis Scholar Athlete throughout her high school career for her hard work both in and out of the classroom. After high school, she plans on attending Purdue University to study Agronomy with plans to work in agriculture or plant biology.
-Mason Schrock: Mason is the son of Steffen and Jesselle Schrock. He has one brother Roman and one sister Annika. Mason has participated in football and baseball for four years and swimming for three years. He is a three time letter winner for football and swimming. Mason has received the JV MVP for baseball last season and won the One Play Warrior Award in 2018 and 2019 for football. He has won the Phil Hoogenboom Heart and Soul Award and the Elkhart County Sports .com Coaches Award both during this past swimming season. Mason is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes and his church youth group. He has a 3.43 GPA. Mason has received the Kiwanis Scholar Athlete award throughout his high school career for his outstanding grades while participating in athletics. After high school, he plans on attending the University of Indianapolis to study nursing with plans on becoming an Interventional Cardiologist.
