Announcements and Important Events
Goshen High School and Edward Jones are proud to announce the student-athlete of the month award to recognize athletic and academic excellence. A senior male and female student-athlete will be selected from August-May each school year. At the end of the year, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete of the month, as selected by the GHS coaching staff.
The winners of the Edward Jones Student-Athlete of the Month Award for May are:
Anna Podgorski and James Troyer
-Anna Podgorski: Anna is the daughter of Mark and Marisa Podgorski. She has two sisters Laura Ibarra and Sophie Podgorski and two brothers Andrew and Alex. Anna has participated in girls tennis for four season and is a four-time varsity letter winner. She has received academic honors every year she has played tennis. Anna works at the hospital as a phlebotomist and volunteers at the children’s liturgy at her church. She is involved with Stay in Bounds at Goshen High School. Even though her senior season is cancelled, she is still finding ways to get lessons this spring so she can compete in some regional tournaments this summer and achieve a goal of hopefully winning one. Anna has a 3.99 GPA. She has been named a Kiwanis Scholar Athlete throughout her high school career for her hard work both in and out of the classroom. After high school, Anna plans on attending Marian University to study Biology with plans to go to physician assistant school to become a physician assistant.
-James Troyer: James is the son of Tim and Krista Troyer. He has one brother William. James has participated in football and baseball for four years. He is a three time letter winner for football and a one-time letter winner for baseball. James has received the Defensive MVP for football in 2019. He is an IFCA All-State Academic and a Kiwanis scholar athlete for baseball for three seasons. James has a 3.63 GPA. He has received the Kiwanis Scholar Athlete award throughout his high school career for his outstanding grades while participating in athletics. After high school, James plans on attending the Indiana University Bloomington to study marketing at the Kelley School of Business. His goal in college is to study abroad and earn an internship outside of Indiana that can help translate into a career.
