Goshen Travel Basketball

RedHawk Boys Basketball helps facilitate Travel Teams for boys enrolled in grades 3-6 in Goshen Community Schools. Each grade will have a team, coached by parent volunteers. These teams will practice two times per week and play in the Northeast Indiana Club 1 League from October-February. Please open the link below to learn more about these teams. Tryouts are on Wednesday, September 20th, and Wednesday, September 27th, from 6:30-8:00 PM at Goshen High School. You may also contact Coach Wohlford at GHS for more information, at mwohlford@goshenschools.org.

RedHawk Youth Basketball League

This is for boys in grades 2-5 that currently attend Goshen Community Schools.  The league runs for five weeks on Saturdays.  It starts the second weekend in October and runs through the second week of November.  A skills evaluation night takes place two weeks prior to the league beginning and allows the staff to make the teams as even as possible. The skills evalulation for 2017 is on Monday night, September 25th, from 6:30-8:00 PM. Boys playing in the league will only need to attend this evaluation night for about 15 minutes.

Boys in grades 2-3 participate in the NAIA division where they use Junior size basketballs and an 8 1/2  foot basket.  Boys in grades 4-5 participate in the NCAA division.  This division uses a women's size ball and regulation size baskets.  Boys in grade 3 may choose to play in either the NAIA or the NCAA division, based on their skill level.

Each Saturday there is a 30-minute practice, followed by a game of four 8-minute quarters.  The score is kept, but it starts over at the start of the second half.  Each half begins with every player on each team shooting a 1+1 free throw.  This allows each player to score points for his team.  Playing time is divided equally for every player in the RYBL.

Informational flyers are distributed to each boy in grades 2-5 in September of each school year.  Contact Coach Wohlford if you want more information regarding the Fall Youth League.
