2018-19 Season Information
Required Paperwork: To be able to participate in ANY type of workouts/tryouts, you must have an up-to-date physical and concussion/cardiac paper completed and turned into the athletic office. If you played a sport at GHS this past year, you have a physical already on file and do not have to worry about it until June 30, 2018. As of July 1, 2018 you must have a new physical dated after 4/1/18 and new concussion forms completed. Only physicals that were obtained after April 1, 2018 are eligible for this year. If you got one before that date, it will not be eligible and you will be required to get another one. See the Athletic Department for more information if needed.
For the 2018-19 season there are three cheerleading teams -- competition, football game day and basketball game day. Competition team members are required to participate in one sideline season.The number of members chosen for each team will depend upon the quality and number of athletes at tryouts. RedHawk Cheer is a program that requires each athlete to make this team a priority. Tryouts for the 2018 competition season will be on May 25th at 4pm on the mondo. Prior to tryouts material will be taught on the following days May 21st 7-8:30pm, May 22nd 4-6pm and May 24th 6-8pm. Tryouts for for the 2018 football game day season will be on August 2nd at 6:30pm in the warehouse. Prior to tryouts material will be taught on the following days July 30th 6:30-8:30pm, July 31st 6:30-8:30pm, and August 1st 6:30-8:30pm. Tryouts for the 2018-19 basketball game day season will be around late October (TBD).
Goshen High School be participating in the traditional (2.5) competitions for the 2018 season. Competitions dates are TBD. This team will need to be very dedicated as we will be practicing over the summer months 4-5x/week, along with tumbling practices, and attend summer camp. Skills needed at this level may include but not limited to, standing back handspring, standing tuck, round back handspring, or round back handspring, tuck/layout.
Each athlete will be asked to to do several skills throughout the tryout process. Skills evaluated but not limited to jumps, tumbling, dance and stunting. The final day of tryout we will have a team meeting for athletes that made the competition at the conclusion of tryouts. Team meeting will include commitment to the competition team, possible competition dates (if I have confirmed dates), team apparel and fundraisers. First practice of the season, Tuesday May 29th 4-5:30pm. Parent Meeting May 29th at 6pm, $50 deposit due for camp.

Hair and make-up should be “game day ready” i.e. hair should be off shoulders (ponytail) and out of face (we want to see that beautiful smile :-) )
Appearance will be looked at as well as your athletic skills
ABSOLUTELY NOT JEWELRY IS TO BE WORN!! This includes earrings of any kind (ears, nose, tongue, belly button rings, etc). If you make the team, you will not be allowed to wear any of these earrings during practices or games.
Although we do our best to keep personal expenses to a minimum, fundraisers will be available to help with personal cost. If selected as a member of the competition team, you may be required to purchase the following but not limited to: Camp, Camp Apparel, Uniform, Bodysuit, Spandex, Bow Shoes, Team Bag, Team Jacket, Team Apparel
Payments will need to be made approximately every two weeks
Camp balance will need to be paid by July 9th, 2018
May 29th $50, June 12th payment, June 26th payment
Camp Apparel, Team Packages will need to be paid by August 3rd, 2018

Football Game Day Information
Football Sideline Team: Once team placement have been posted. Practices will start in August which will vary from 1-2x/week. Practices days and times are yet to be determined.
Varsity team cheers all varsity football games, home and away in addition to weekly practices Skills needed at this level may include but not limited to, standing back handspring or standing tuck. Game day dates: August 17, 24, 31, September 7, 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2nd….
Junior Varsity team will cheer at all Junior Varsity home football games in addition to weekly practices. Game day dates: August, 25, September 1, 15, 22 and October 13.
Freshman team will cheer at all freshman home football games in addition to weekly practices.Game day dates: August 23, September 13, October 4, 11.
