2018-19 Basketball Game Day
Required Paperwork: To be able to participate in ANY type of workouts/tryouts, you must have an up-to-date physical and concussion/cardiac paper completed and turned into the athletic office. If you played a sport at GHS this past year, you have a physical already on file and do not have to worry about it. You need a new physical for this school year, 2018-2019. Only physicals that were obtained after April 1, 2018 are eligible for this year. If you got one before that date, it will not be eligible and you will be required to get another one. See the Athletic Department for more information if needed.
Winter Season Tryouts: Winter season tryout practices will begin on October 29th 4 - 6p and 30th 4 - 6p in the warehouse. A judged tryout will take place throughout the tryout practices. Appearance and Attitude are judged throughout the try-out. Each athlete will be required to perform the following at throughout tryout practices.
*Jumps: toe, pike, right front hurdler and double toe
*Tumbling: Cartwheel, Round-off, Standing back handspring, Standing tuck, Standing back handspring tuck, Round off back handsprings ( up to 3), Round off tuck, Round off handspring tuck, Other (optional pass)
*Group Dance: taught at try-out practice Group Chant: taught at try-out practice
*Group Stunt: taught at try-out practice
Winter Sideline Team: Once team placement has been posted. Winter practices will begin up to 3-4x/week. Practice and game schedule is located at http://www.goshenredhawks.org/. All scheduled practices and events are mandatory.
Varsity team cheers all varsity girls/boys home basketball games. Travels to NLC games for both girls/boys basketball games. Skills needed at this level may include but are not limited to, standing back handspring, standing tuck, round off back handspring, round off tuck, round off back handspring tuck, etc.
Junior Varsity team cheers all junior varsity girls/boys home basketball games. Travels to NLC games for both girls/boys basketball games Skills needed at this level may include but not limited to, standing back handspring, round off back handspring.
Freshman team will cheer at all freshman home girls/boys basketball games. No traveling.
Youth Clinic: Clinic will be offered sometime during our winter season. More information to come.
Elementary Cheer: will be offered towards the end of winter season
Estimated Purchases: All team apparel must be paid by November 9th. Websites (online stores) will be available for parents to pay with credit or debit cards. You may need to order replacement items if you have lost apparel.

11/24 BBB at Fairfield – Thanksgiving Weekend
December: NO PRACTICE (12/24/18 - 12/31/18), Christmas party
January: NO PRACTICE (1/1/19 OR 1/2/19), youth clinic
February: Girls basketball playoff games (sectionals), youth clinic, concessions, elementary cheer
March: Boys basketball playoff games (sectionals), elementary cheer
All Star/Competitive Cheerleading (Outside of Goshen High School ex: Indiana Ultimate, Champion Force) This is a reminder of the IHSAA rule 15-1.1 c. or 15-1.2 a. A student-athlete may receive a maximum of two waivers during the contest season to participate in non-school competition. Student-athletes need to be at all scheduled Goshen High School cheerleading practices/games. A student-athlete can not miss a game/practice or scheduled event due to a non-school competition. Failure to comply with this rule may result in removal from Goshen High School Cheerleading program. A form must be completed and returned to the Athletic Director for any waiver.
